Volcanoes erupting right in front of you? Magical ancient ruins? Star Wars filming locations? Dr*g wars between Mexico?
Guatemala exceeded my expectations, and prior to going I had only heard of people going to climb volcanoes of those who got ~extreme~ food poisoning. Guatemala had absolutely everything I wanted in a country, amazing food, incredible nature, challenging hikes, kind backpackers and beautiful architecture. I spent 2 weeks here on a zippy trip through the country by bus and it has landed in my list of top favourite countries I’ve travelled to.
